Best way to store loose leaf tea?

Just wondering whether anyone can recommend a method of storing loose leaf tea. Should all teas be stored the same way or do storage methods differ depending on the type of tea?

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say.

Comments:

  • My understanding is that light and moisture affect tea. It is best to store tea in an airtight container in a cool dark place. Importantly, drink it as soon as possible. If stored well I tea can retain its flavour for 12 months - others may have a differing opinion. I hope that helps.
  • Green Tea tends to go stale sooner than black tea. I usually try and drink my tea within 3 months of buying it.
  • How do I find the tetley teabag storage boxes?
  • I have found that those Tetley loose tea caddy packs are great containers for the tea. They are actually part of the packaging, look for the Tetley leaf 250g tea with the plastic lid, I always get mine from Woolworths
  • I am a new convert to tea. Especially green tea. Love it - especially " emporor,s garden "
